In the period from August 18 – 25, 2024, two teachers, one in the electrical engineering sector and the other in the computing sector, participated in job shadowing in companies in Portugal, trying to connect practical skills with the teaching process in order to provide their students with a better education and better prepared them for work in companies. They visited electrotechnical companies, getting to know ideas and new methods and knowledge about new technologies that can be implemented in our school. The electrical company is specialized in installing lighting, installing low-voltage installations, and security systems, alarm or CCTV systems. The main goal of job shadowing was to become familiar with the industry in which teachers teach. The IT companies where the job shadowing took place are specialized in the work of computer networks, interface development, implementation of artificial intelligence in IP communications, etc. What teachers can additionally connect with the Artificial Intelligence subject curriculum implemented by the school in the third and fourth grades. They were introduced to some innovative solutions made by companies. Through this job shadowing, they gained insight into the change in the paradigm of work in IT companies with the emergence of AI. The IT company deals with topics such as Cyber ​​security, Machine learning and Deep learning, as well as communications and server maintenance. These are all important topics for the IT sector as well as our students, and in order to connect the acquired knowledge and practical skills through project tasks and the creation of final papers. Project teaching is becoming extremely important, as a leading method of teaching, and is being implemented this school year through a couple of project tasks, in order for teachers to adapt to the introduction of modular teaching, which is planned for the fall of 2025.
