About Erasmus +

Erasmus is an EU program that supports

It has an estimated budget of 26.2 billion euros. This represents almost double the funding of the program that preceded it in the period 2014-2020.

For the period 2021-2027, the program places special emphasis on social inclusion, the double ecological and digital transition and promoting the participation of young people in democratic life.

It supports the priorities and activities set out in the European Education Area, the Digital Education Action Plan and the European Skills Agenda.

How to participate

Erasmus+ is a very broad program that covers a wide variety of actions. How to participate depends mainly on two factors:

  1. If you are applying for yourself or on behalf of an organisation
  2. What country you or your organization are located in.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?

Citizens of Iceland, Liechtenstein, North Macedonia, Norway, Serbia or Türkiye can participate in most opportunities, since these countries, although they do not belong to the EU, are  associated with the Erasmus+ program . Citizens of other non-EU countries have access to some opportunities, such as  joint Erasmus Mundus master’s degrees or the international dimension of student and staff exchange (if your university participates) and  exchange schemes in the field of youth .

Which countries can participate in erasmus?

EU Member States and third countried associated can fully participate in all actions of the Erasmus+ program. These are all EU countries, members of the European Free Trade Association (EFTA), candidate countries for EU membership and other countries.

Third countries not associated with the Program can participate in some Erasmus+ actions . There are many countries of this type, from all over the world.

Individual applicants

If you are interested in participating yourself, you will probably have to apply through an organization, such as your university, your training center, your company, etc.

You can find out if they have applied for a grant for a project or explore the Erasmus+ app for advice or inspiration.

For most actions, your organization must be located in a program country. These countries are the Member States of the EU and a short list of other countries associated with the programme. Other actions are also open to groups of countries not associated with the program.

See the list of countries of the Erasmus+ program (EU Member States and countries associated with the program).

Applicant organizations

If you represent an organization interested in applying for a project grant or participating in a call for proposals, please refer to the registration instructions you must complete first.

Read about the registration process and other instructions

You should also check the list of program countries and partner countries, as where you are based will influence which actions you can apply for.
